Wedding Trends 2016 – Part 2. for Destination weddings in Italy & worldwide
6. Naked Cake
The Naked Cake is a trend that started in the US and its great popularity has meant that it’s made its way across the Atlantic. Instead of the traditional, heavy style of wedding cake, something lighter with fresh fruit toppings, for example, is called for. Ingredients such as yoghurt, cream cheese or mascarpone cheese, topped off with delicious forest fruits are becoming increasingly popular. A perfect supplement to a candy bar and, more importantly, perfect for summer weddings in hot temperatures.
- Blue or Blue meets glitter
This year, you can’t go wrong by opting for tones of blue. Smooth pastel tones and a strong navy blue were popular last year, but in 2016 you can expect to see many shades of blue. You can combine it well with earthy skin tones or pale pinks. Red, however, is out this year. Gold, glitter and metallic looks are very en vogue, especially when it comes to the bridal shoes, decorated in mesmerising, shimmering colours. An absolute must-have!
Wedding videos are back in fashion in 2016. In addition to the photos, having a video of your special day is the perfect way to capture all the romance and emotion of the event, and a great memory that you’ll still enjoy in 20 years time.
- Flower Power
Already by 2015, flowers were a hot trend. This year, however, is set to be even more flowery! Floral patterns will be ubiquitous; cake decorations with flowers on top, wedding dresses with floral appliqués and flowery details on table decor… There are no limits to the imagination where large flowers are involved!
With that said, it’s not surprising that the 2015 trend for hair wreaths will remain on trend in 2016. Floral opulence is the key for the bride’s bouquet, with loosely arranged flowers and plenty of dark greens!
- Creative Cold Drinks, Cocktails & Co
The demand for creativity in 2016 also extends to the drinks menu. Delicious mixed cocktails and organic sodas are in demand, and even better; homemade lemonade! Popular ingredients to spice up your drinks include fresh limes, mint leaves, slices of cucumber, brown sugar, ginger, lemon, raspberries and syrups. They not only make the drink taste great but look amazing too!
